March Part 1: The Lion
Spring is coming we swear!
With that being said here are some things we’ve been working on.
March Gigs Part 1: The Lion
Friday March 4, 2016- Ivory Hours with Mountain of Wolves.
Ivory Hours is a sassy alt-pop trio from London, Ontario. After releasing their album on June 9th 2015 the band went on to win 102.1 The Edge’s ‘Next Big Thing’, garnering their first commercial airplay for the single ‘Warpaint’.
Mountain of Wolves has a Soo connection. Deputy Mark Kulmala and his beard are back. It’s Folk meets Rock, it’s MOW.
Saturday March 5, 2016- Luke Thompson and Ellen Froese-Kooijenga
Luke Thompson brings his finger lickin’ pickin’ from Calgary. It’s rock n’ roll, while keeping the music tough and the lyrics tender.
Ellen Frose-Kooijenga is a hip-swinger, folk-singer but not like Joan Baez, or a sheep, however her vibrato may tell otherwise. Ellen draws primary influence from folksters such as Pete Seeger, Donovan, and Jack Elliot, with a sprinkling of anything from David Bowie to Buddy Holly to Bruce Springsteen.
Saturday March 12, 2016- Sometimes Ange
Sometimes Ange is a new local band of friends: John, Byron, Andrew and of course Ange. Performing a variety of covers from various musical genres, these friends will make their Loplops debut. Covers range from classic rock, country, alternative, blues, and always a few originals. The Band didn’t have a name for a long time but sometimes Ange would be hard to get a hold of and sometimes Ange would miss practice and so “Sometimes Ange” just stuck.
Stay tuned for more announcements coming soon!
